500th Review

Someone just posted the 500th review on FF.net for Twist of Fate. FIVE HUNDREDTH. Why is it that one number is so much cooler that the next? Why is it that 499 (which I admit is awesome) isn't nearly as awesome as FIVE HUNDRED? Or is your 19th anniversary less special than your 20th? I don't know but I'm pretty thrilled to have it happen. I admit I thought I was at least a month away from the 500 mark but someone posted a gazillion reviews last night and it pushed the count forward dramatically.

Anomaly, Anyone?

AnomalyWas browsing through LJ stat information last night and came across this graph showing LJ users by age. What happened in 1980 that produced such a spike?

My best guess is that LJ used to have a default date (1980) in the sign up and most people didn't bother to change it when signing up. Open to other ideas of how such a statistical anomaly could occur.

1980 = Carter was president, U.S. boycotted the Olympics, the birth of CNN and a bunch of hyper-creative people destined to share their fandoms were born?
